Festival of Scarecrows

Town Square will become a pumpkin patch and scarecrows of all shapes and sizes will stand guard throughout Olde Town.

Bring costumed kids for the parade, navigate the corn maze, find a perfect pumpkin and be sure to vote for your favorite scarecrow – the winners will receive prizes – or enter your own scarecrow into the contest.

A Big Thank-You from the Ralson House

Ralston House wants to thank everyone who voted for them in the Office Liquidators Office Makeover Contest. Ralston House, through community support, continues to help children, teens, and families affect by abuse.

Although Ralston House did not come in first place in the Office Liquidators Office Makeover Contest, they did receive a $1,250 gift certificate for office furnishings.

The top winner was Hope House, another nonprofit in Arvada doing great good in this community, so the Arvada community came in a winner in more than one way.

If you love Italian food, consider dining at 3 Sons Italian Restaurant and Bar on June 22nd between 4:00-9:00 p.m. 20% of all food (not beverage) purchases will be donated to Ralston House.

Walk with Arvada Police for M.A.D.D.

Last year the Arvada Police Department Traffic Unit supported the Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) by forming a team to participate in the Walk Like MADD fund-raising event held at Sloan’s Lake Park.

Our team raised over $2,800 and was the second most productive law enforcement team and the fifth best fund-raising team in the entire state.

We thank you for your help and support in that endeavor and are announcing today that we will again be helping MADD in their quest to eliminate drunk driving by participating in the Walk Like MADD event at Sloan’s Lake Park on August 7th at 9:00 AM.

We invite you and your family to join us.
■Every year in the United States more than 12,000 people die due to alcohol related traffic crashes and 500,000 more suffer injuries.
■Last year in Arvada more than 400 people were arrested for drunk driving.
■Last year in Arvada there were 118 traffic crashes involving drunk drivers. While this represents a 19% reduction from 2008, two of our five fatal accidents last year involved alcohol.

Water Fountain Opens

Enjoy the Olde Town Water Fountain, but please follow the rules:

All persons using fountain do so at their own risk.

Children should be accompanied by an adult.

Keep children out of shrub beds.

Young children and infants must wear swim diapers.

Running, roughness, horseplay, and other disturbances are strictly prohibited.

No pets allowed in the fountain.

No bikes, scooters, skateboards, or rollerblades allowed.

No food or glass containers in fountain area.

Profanity, improper behavior, and intoxification are not allowed.

Smoking is prohibited.

No loitering.

Days and Hours of Fountain Operation
May 1 – September 30, 7 days a week.

9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The fountain may be shut off at any time due to weather, maintenance of equipment, or other operational concerns.
