Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 8 to help “stamp out” hunger! Set out non-perishable food donations by your mail boxes by 10:00 a.m. to be picked up by area letter carriers and Arvada Community Food Bank Volunteers. This national food drive benefits local food distribution centers around the country. Last year a record 73.4 million pounds of food was collected nationally, and our own Arvada Community Food Bank received 46,000 pounds of food.
This is an important drive for the Arvada Community Food Bank. While demand remains high, the donations received during the holiday season have been depleted. Children who have received free or reduced lunches at school are on summer break and their families are struggling to put food on the table. The Food Bank looks to this food drive to help maintain an inventory of non-perishable food for the summer months.
Please be generous on Saturday, May 8 when your faithful letter carrier and Arvada Community Food Bank volunteer comes to collect the food set out beside your mailbox!!
